2. Effect of spa treatment expressed in pharmaco-economic summary:

In recent years in the Kynzvart Spa a four-year study in cooperation with practitioners for children and adolescents took place. Three age groups of children between the ages of 2 and 15 (pre-school, younger and older school children) and the cost of their treatment were monitored a year before completing the complete spa treatment after the first, second and third year of treatment. The consumption of antibiotics, symptomatics, corticosteroids, and agents to support their own antibody production were monitored.

The evaluation results confirmed that:

• after completing the comprehensive spa treatment, the total cost of treatment of children with antibiotics was halved according to the individual age groups
• the overall decrease in cost of respiratory diseases treatment in children with symptomatics reached one-third
• the same trend was observed in the category of consumption of immunostimulants (products to support own antibody production) and corticoids

In all age categories the frequency of hospitalizations for children's respiratory diseases decreased significantly in the calendar year following the completion of the spa stay in the Kynzvart.

The result of a long-term statistical monitoring of the morbidity of the treated patients clearly demonstrated that 78% of patients achieved the success of a comprehensive spa treatment.
